goodbye to Dylan

Dylan begins the journey back to Canada later tonight. I am enormously grateful he came to Rwanda to learn first hand about the program. Our week together was productive and we accomplished our goals. Dylan is the current Chair of CASIEF, so it was important for him to see the country and meet our partners.

We met with the five graduating residents for goat and fish brochettes at Le Capri to hear about their research projects.  They’ve done some excellent work documenting outcomes in areas such as critical care, pediatrics, ambulatory care and the operating room.

Tristan and Derek have left for Ruhengeri for gorilla trekking tomorrow. Michelle and I have scheduled a walk with Bona tomorrow morning.  I only hope it won’t be a repeat of the grueling “walk” we did last year, up and down hills around Kigali for four hours in the hot sun. Later tomorrow Michelle and Christophe will watch the Rwandan national football team play Ivory Coast in the African Cup. Go Rwanda Go.

Dylan drank half a bottle of banana beer. Yikes!
