week in review

We've had highs and lows this week.  Yesterday was particularly frustrating, as there is a sense that nothing has changed, but so many things have improved.  Mat and I just had a quick "week in review" discussion.  Academic day on Monday was excellent, we enjoyed teaching the tech students, the visit to RMH for pain management was very productive, Rwandan staff are leading many initiatives and the simulation centre has been an overwhelming success.  It is thrilling to see Rwandan clinicians teaching their students as though the centre has always been there.  The centre has been embraced by so many teachers and learners.  The fact that it all seems so normal now feels like a huge victory.

Sender, Mat and I will head out this afternoon with Emmy to Ruhengeri.  Tomorrow Mat will visit the gorillas (he's thrilled) and Sender and I will see the golden monkeys (Sender hopes this means a short walk to see them in a cage, ha).

Here's a few photos of live at CHUK today.
